According to a report from Handelsblatt, the data released by the Solar Energy Industries Association of Germany reveals that in 2012, Germany had about 1.3 million sets of solar energy equipment in total that provide electricity for about 8 million households, an increase of 4.5% year on year. Germany’s effort in developing solar energy was well paid off until now. Photovoltaic power generation now can satisfy 5% of electricity demand in Germany, and its proportion in electricity supply quadrupled in 3 years.
In addition, according to data quoted by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung from the Power Grid Administration of Germany on Wednesday, the new installed capacity of Germany’s photovoltaic unit exceeded 7.3 gigawatts between January and November last year, and was integrated into the public power grid. Throughout 2012, the total installed capacity of roof and field solar energy in Germany reached 7.5 gigawatts. To restrict the production of solar energy equipment, Germany government reduced the subsidy for solar energy, which resulted in large decrease in the price of solar energy equipment and huge loss and frequent closedown for those manufacturers
